Ahhh, the lazy days of summer… Now that we are in August, enjoy the last few weeks of summer!

Did you know that August was originally named Sextilis because it was the 6th month of what was then a 10-month calendar?

It was renamed in 8 BC in honor of Augustus, the first Roman Emperor.

He chose the month of Sextilis to become ‘August’ because that was the time of year that he conquered Egypt, among other countries.
