Shred Station CT - October Newsletter
The leaves have started to fall, the weather is getting colder, and October is here! On Monday, we celebrated Columbus Day, and later this month is Halloween. Here are some interesting facts about each of these holidays:
- Columbus discovered America in 1492. He originally set sail on August 3, 1492, but had trouble with the ships, stopping at the Canary Islands for a month. Also, he did not land on the U.S. mainland. He landed on an island in the Caribbean. While many believe he landed on San Salvador, there is still debate on which island he originally landed.
- Halloween originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts.
Happy Halloween!
